Faiza Hussain – At The Centre, Lies The World – Ryan K Lindsay
Faiza: You know what I can do, right?
Voice (op): Yes, of course.
2. Doctor Doom stands in front of Faiza, a cup of tea in his hand.
Doom: Do you mean to threaten Doom?
Doom: That would be a drastic and fatal course of action to take, girl.
3. Faiza leans forward, she doesn’t want to waste time with Doom’s posturing.
Faiza: Not what I was intonating, good Doctor.
Faiza: What I wanted to discuss was what we each do with our powers. It’s probably rare that any of us have ever sat down and tried every little combination of what we can do.
4. Doom sits down, sipping his cup.
Doom: I seriously hope there is a point here or I will have missed an opportunity to whip a stablehand for no good reason.
Faiza: Doom, I could rearrange you into a pretty little candelabra, so just pipe down.
Faiza: What I’m saying is, I guess sometimes there are happy little miracles.
5. Faiza is walking towards the kitchen bench.
Faiza: I didn’t think I’d be able to do this.
6. Faiza turns with the point of Excalibur aimed at Doom’s throat.
Faiza: But I’ve unlocked a very old mystery, within this weapon, and your mother is at the heart of it.
Faiza: Care to stop being an arrogant prick long enough for us to help each other?

Faiza Hussain - Rising From The Ashes - Rol Hirst
Panel One.
The location: The Sydney Cricket Ground, New South Wales.
The scenario: During the the final of The Ashes Series cricket contest 2010/11, the two opposing sides have been transformed into undead opponents. The English cricket team has become bloodthirsty vampires while the Australians are lumbering zombies. (I should state at this point that, while English myself, I have little interest in cricket – nor any great sense of national pride. I’m of the opinion that most team sports would be enlivened considerably were some supernatural element to be included.)
Anyhoo, the story opens with a largish panel of undead cricketer-slaying mayhem. MI13 have been called in to trounce the monsters on both sides. Captain Britain is bowling a zombie cricketer’s head at a group of bat-wielding vampires. Blade is staking a vamp with a wicket. Black Knight is hacking at encroaching zombies with his ebony blade. Pete Wisdom is calling the shots from the umpire’s position. All this is taking place in the background…
...because in the foreground, Faiza Hussain walks towards us with Excalibur held at the ready.
CAP (FAIZA): Final Day of the Fifth Test of the Ashes, I always dreamed of watching it live.
CAP (FAIZA): I should have known it’d end up like this. English vampires versus Aussie zombies, and the only one who can put it all back to normal in time for the final over is…
Panel Two.
Faiza approaches a zombie and a vampire who are fighting to hold The Ashes Urn.
CAP (FAIZA): …a Muslim doctor cum superhero from Essex.
FAIZA: ‘Scuse me, fellas – you’ve kinda got something I need there…
Panel Three.
Dropping the urn, the vampire and zombie both lunge to attack Faiza. She swings Excalibur in response…
Vampire: Die!
Zombie: Rrrrrrrrgh!
Panel Four.
…and lops off both their heads. Vampire blood and zombie slime splatter everywhere.
FAIZA: Ughh! Yuck!
CAP (FAIZA): Almost as gross as Saturday night in A&E.;
Panel Five.
Wiping the blood and slime from her face with one hand, Faiza kneels before the dropped urn. She waves her other hand out before her and the blue light of her healing power begins to glow over the ceremonial ashes that have spilled from the urn onto the pitch.
CAP (FAIZA): Still, no time to be squeamish now. I’ve never used my powers to this extent before and they don’t normally work on magical entities, but if Pete and Brian are right, this is something beyond magic…
Panel Six.
Faiza is concentrating and using her power with both hands now. The Ashes rise from the ground and begin to swirl in the air, forming the shape of a man in cricket clothing, holding a bat.
CAP (FAIZA): …this is cricket!

Faiza Hussain - Caledfwlch - Max Barnard
The Premise: Um... Pixie is Welsh. Excalibur has a distinctly interesting Welsh name, let alone the stories history of it in a variety of Welsh works, specifically Preiddeu Annwfn... So... Let's MARVEL TEAM-UP this thing? Also no-prize to anyone who can explain Pixie's magic working differently to normal.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Note: This is page 2 of a greater story. Page 1 was Pixie panicking over some mysterious object in the distance in the fields of Wales, and coming up with an idea of who to summon. We join her halfway through her spell)
Page 2 - X Panels
1-- Pixie generates a large amount of pixie dust, out of which Faiza Hussain has appeared, coughing.
SPEECH BUBBLE/MEGAN GWYNN - --CHINOTH!
SPEECH BUBBLE/FAIZA HUSSAIN - *cough**hakk*..where?*cough*
2-- Pixie is dragging Faiza, who is still dazed by her sudden teleportation.
SPEECH BUBBLE/FAIZA HUSSAIN - What? Who are you? Where are you taking me?
SPEECH BUBBLE/MEGAN GWYNN - NO TIME! BIG TROUBLE! THIS WAY!
3-- Faiza has pushed off Pixie and is pointing at her, shouting angrily.
SPEECH BUBBLE/FAIZA HUSSAIN - OI! I don't know what it's like where you come from but where I'm from we have a thing called manners! No stop dragging me around and tell me what I'm doing here. And where IS here?
4-- Pixie is trailing behind Faiza, trying to get her attention as she storms off in a huff.
SPEECH BUBBLE/MEGAN GWYNN - Um...
SPEECH BUBBLE/FAIZA HUSSAIN - No, forget it! I don't have time for this, I have to get back to MI13 before Pete and Dane think something awful has happened.
5-- Pixie grabs Faiza's head.
6-- Pixie turns Faiza's head towards the earlier off-panel item.
SPEECH BUBBLE/MEGAN GWYNN - Look!
7-- We view the scene from the other side of our two characters as they look up at a giant glass fortress.
CAPTION - Annwfn: EXACTLY what it looks like.
SPEECH BUBBLE/FAIZA HUSSAIN - Oh... My.
[Note: So... can you tell that panel 7 really should have been its own page? But still, this is what it is.]

Faiza Hussain - Hail - Ben Rosenthal
1. Close up of Faiza, sweat on her face as she runs.
This isn’t what I signed up for.
2. A wider shot, showing the torso of Faiza as she runs. We can see, vaguely, figures behind her. She is running from these figures.
I’m a doctor first. I just want to help people. My abilities help me do that.
3. A close up of Excalibur, hanging from Faiza’s belt.
As does this thing. Right now though...
4. A birds’ eye point of view, with Faiza running ahead of a large crowd of people.
It’s not helping a hell of a lot.
CROWD (large font, as they are chanting)
HAIL, THE TRUE MONARCH! HAIL EXCALIBUR!
5. Same framing as panel one. Faiza looks horrified at the chant.
Oh bollocks.
